The man behind the name is Zino Davidoff, born in 1906 in Kiev, Ukraine. Davidoff is a Swiss company synonymous with luxurious living, establishes by Zino Davidoff, He was the first of four children of Jewish tobacco merchants. Escaping the anti-Semitism that was pervasive in their homeland, his parents moved to Switzerland and established their tobacco business there. After finishing school in 1924, he traveled all over the world to learn more about the tobacco trade and in 1930 took over the family business and made it the international empire of luxury cigars and goods that it is today.

In 1984, Zino Davidoff launched his first cologne, Davidoff Classic, and two years later, introduced another scent, which was named after him.
