Nikos Apostolopoulos was born in Patras, Greece, received a doctorate in international law from The Sorbonne in Paris. His love for intimate men's wear, however, inspired him to release his first eponymous men's underwear line in 1985. Two years later, he expanded his offerings to include intimate wear and swimwear for women, and men's and women's ready-to-wear pieces. Known for his idealistic artistic vision, Nikos incorporates Lycra and cotton into his intimate wear designs. The minimalistic, stretchy materials he uses to complement the visible seams in his designs that are intentionally placed throughout his garments to accentuate the wearer's muscles, as well as their bodily movements. During the 1990s, Nikos collections emphasized black and white color combinations and bold designs that were inspired by the signature cut-outs of artist Matisse. His mainstream streetwear also included an abundance of leopard-printed garments and tailored suits. Nikos is a celebrated jewelry designer who offers cuff links, necklaces and rings for men, and rings, pendants, and necklaces for women. He is also a renowned costume designer for the opera and theater. Some of his notable costume collections were seen in 1989 at the Paris Spring Festival's showing of Monsigny's 'Le cadi dupe' and 1990's Montpelier's production of Richard Strauss' 'Salome'.

Nikos Apostolopoulos ventured into the fragrance realm with his release of Sculpture for women In 1994. As of 2014, the designer offers seven men's & women's scents.
