Oscar de la Renta

 

Oscar de la Renta was born July 22, 1932, in the Dominican Republic, is a Fashion designer. At the age of 18, he moved to Spain, where he studied painting at the Academy of San Fernando in Madrid. However, he quickly changed his focus to fashion. He became interested in the world of design and began sketching for leading Spanish fashion houses, which led to an apprenticeship with Spain's most renowned couturier, Cristobal Balenciaga. Later, de la Renta left Spain to join Antonio Castillo as a couture assistant at the Lanvin in Paris. Oscar de la Renta went to work designing custom clothing for Elizabeth Arden in 1963. He worked for Arden for two years before launching his own label. He and partner Ben Shaw founded the company in 1966. They design couture and ready-to-wear apparel for men and women and licenses its name for a number of products, including jewelry, eyewear, lingerie, home furnishings, luggage, swimwear, fragrance, and furs. Other collections made by the company are sold under the OSCAR by Oscar de la Renta and Pink Label brands.

In 1977, Oscar de la Renta launched their first perfume, Oscar. Today, Oscar is a bestseller in over 70 countries and winner of the 1991 Fragrance Foundation Perennial Success Award. In 1980, they created a fragrance for men, Pour Lui cologne. In 1999, the designer launched Oscar For Men cologne. Intrusion perfume for women followed in 2002. In 2004, Their latest fragrance, Rosamor perfume for women, was launched.
