Egyptian-born Gaby Aghion founded Chloe in Paris in 1952; luxury fashion house Chloe has always represented a freewheeling bohemian spirit. Rejecting the stiff formality of 1950s fashion, Aghion created soft, body-conscious clothes from fine fabrics and called them "luxury Pret-a-porter." Unique for their time, they were beautifully made clothes available off the rack. In 1956, Aghion and her business partner, Jaques Lenior debuted the first collection over breakfast at Cafe De Flore. They chose the name, "Chloe", for its warm, feminine appeal. In 1966, Karl Lagerfeld became the house's head designer, and under his direction, Chloe became one of the most iconic fashion brands of the 1970s. Jackie Onassis, Brigitte Bardot, Maria Callas, and Grace Kelly all came to Chloe's boutique in search of luxurious daywear. The luxury goods conglomerate Richemont Group purchased Chloe in 1985. In October 2006, Paulo Melim Andersson was appointed chief designer. Today, just as Grace Kelly and Maria Callas did before them, young stars such as Kirsten Dunst, Natalie Portman, and Lou Doillon have fallen in love with the soft elegance of the French design house. More than 50 years after Gaby Aghion imagined it, Chloe's vision of romantic, ultra-feminine fashion lives on.

Launched by the design house in 1975, Chloe Perfume is classified as a flowery fragrance. The feminine scent possesses a blend of honeysuckle, jasmine and orange flowers. Other scents include Narcisse De Chloe Perfume for Women, launched in 1992. Karl Lagerfeld introduced Chloe Innocence perfume in 1996. Additionally, Coty Inc., which picked up the Chloe license with its acquisition of Unilever's fragrance brands in 2005, has announced that they intend to launch a new Chloe women's fragrance for February 2008.
